Woman with chronic headache, in particular migraine disorder, are in a greater number predisposed to suffer from depression, feel fatigued, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a medical investigation published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical trial involved 1010 women who buy cymbalta at headache clinics in seven countries. Of the woman surveyed, 116 reported occasional headache (fewer than 15 headaches per month) and 112 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the people were tested with migraines.

The medical investigation found women with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more likely to report a high degree of symptoms linked to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.

Among woman diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the medical research found the likelihood of major Manic Depression increased 32-fold if the woman also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms should provoke or be a manifestation of major Atypical Depression in patient with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax and Depression should heighten pain perception,” said clinical research author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This link between migraine and major Atypical Depression suggests a common neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical investigation are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Atypical Depression can be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Careless of what’s causing the dependence between migraine and Major Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Manic Depression complicates headache management and can arouse poorer consequences for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.

The medical trial was backinged, in part, by the American Headache Society, which estimates 18 million American patients suffer from headache.
